1. Neighborhood residents want it. They've worked hard on it, and they're not going to give up.
2. There are no land acquisition costs. ACC already owns the land.
3. Volunteers--some of them professional designers--have developed a plan for the park.
4. ACC won't have to pay for all of it. Neighborhood residents will pitch-in to build and maintain the park.
5. Active neighborhood use of the park will help deter crime.
6. As a gathering place, the park will help build community.
7. Crosswalks and signs will improve pedestrian safety at this key intersection.
8. The park could become part of a future greenway network.
9. It will create a striking landmark in one of Athens oldest neighborhoods.
